Many orders of business were discussed including:
- The club was given a behind the scenes tour of the Q Cidery. Starting out as a large scale Cidery along with plans to distill some of their product in the future.
- The vote for a fund raiser for next spring (as we are not doing one this Fall) was chosen as the 6th Ward Athletic club. Possible beer brewing options on the lighter side such as a Pilsner or Gose (or Schweaty Balls lager?).
- The club is planning another Teach a Friend to Brew Day open to the public at Sweet Meadows on November 5. More details to be discussed at the next meeting.
- There were many interesting beers sampled at this meeting including:
- Wes’ Maple Braggot that was tart and puckery.
- Dale’s Raisin Bran Quad that was clean and tasty.
- Jesse brought a Saranac Pumpkin Ale to share. Okay, but seemed over spiced.
- Chris had an Octoberfest that was said to have a low pH, but quite good with three phases of taste.
- Chris also had a Peach Meade that was aged 8 months and had a sweetness from the ABV.
- Jim had a Big Red Ale with Brewer’s Gold and Mosaic, though had a slight medicinal taste.
- Todd brought a Big Brew Day Brown that has aged well, but alas, was getting to be a little over carbonated.
The next meeting is scheduled for October 21, at Willow Creek Brewery at 319 Bliss Gulf Rd. Oneonta, NY 13820.
