Back in Feb. we had the cereal beer tasting; only 2 brews made it, Nathan’s Crave cereal (think s’mores) stout, and the Reese’s Peanut Butter Puff choco-peanut butter stout brewed by Mike Duheme and myself. Both were big hits, and went well alongside Josh & Amanda’s “Choco-coco Imperial Milk Porter”. This was fun, let’s do it again sometime! Frank & Chris’ cereal beer got infected so it didn’t make an appearance, but they did bring the club’s first Hard Tea…good job guys, eat your heart out Mike’s Hard Malternatives!
March’s meeting at “The Rock” was a blast, and Roger held a little tour/tasting session in his brewhouse afterward. Surprisingly only 2 Irish style beers showed up, Matt’s Imperial Irish Red, and one of the best homebrewed stouts this drinker has ever had; Dustin used water treatment to get the real taste of Dublin into his ale…”Brilliant!” Speaking of additives, Chris also treated us to his Imperial Maple-Bacon Stout!
I hope you have your SMASH beers fermenting, or at least ready to brew; we scheduled our SMASH tasting for the May meeting. Speaking of which, we agreed that May is quite a busy month with Mother’s Day, graduations, and Memorial Day, so our (First Annual?) BANGERS & SMASH event will be held on Saturday 5/31, time and location TBD.
Cheers for Beers! See you all Friday at 6:30 at MFP.
