THIS FRIDAY 9/20 @ 6:30pm @ MFP
The Glassware is Here
The inaugural glasses arrived a few days after our August Meeting, so I will FINALLY be able to distribute them. If you paid your dues last year, you’ll have one coming to you. We ordered a few extra, so if you would like more (and/or are a newcomer who hasn’t paid membership dues) they will be available for $5 each.
Upcoming Events
The focus of our 2nd year as a club will be one of brew club community and gatherings. While the charities have been great fun, we will be focusing more on “within-club” gatherings, big brew days, (there was talk of a clam bake!), more education, and other events focused on our mission of celebrating and discussing beer ingredients and processes.
Big Brew Day 5.0
Stay tuned. We are working on a date and location. Will be announcing soon!
BJCP Judging Program
There will be a chance for members to become BJCP certified. Phase One is an online test; and next, a road trip to Rochester for a chance to become a “know-it-all” and turn Oneonta into a regional tasting-testing-ground!
Trappist Class
For those interested, I will be hosting a Trappist Beer Class at MFP in the Fall. There will be a discussion on all (currently 8) trappist monastic breweries, with tastings on 6/8. I conducted this class last year twice on SUNY Oneonta’s campus and had a great time. The class/gathering should take 2-3 hours, and there will be a test afterwards. (sobriety test, that is.. hey-oh!). Course fees are dependent upon enrollment as it will be used to cover cost of alcohol only: about $20-25.
Clam Bake/Turkey Fry/Whatever We Want
In the spirit of club solidarity, we are hoping to pull together a large outdoor gathering with food, family, drinks, and a bonfire. Bring your ideas to the meeting this week, and let’s decide on a date!
As always, don’t forget to bring:
1. Beers
2. Glass
3. Note Taking Materials
4. And your snarky comments
See you all on Friday!!
