I just wanted to send out a reminder that the HOPS for Hunger Tickets are on Sale @ BSide (Clinton Plaza) and Green Toad Bookstore. 20 Bucks! Spread the word and tell all you know to buy them while they last. Ads are going out on the radio and newspapers soon; and like our last event, we anticipate a sell out. As of now, sales are slow so get the word out!!

Greetings Fine Fermentionists!
It’s another month, and another time to celebrate our spoils! This month is October; and while the purists may want to remind us that Munich’s Oktoberfest happened over 2 weeks ago, my calendar still says that any beer-celebration during this month can and should be deemed an Oktoberfest! So, this month’s meeting will be held this Friday night at Bear Pond Winery on Rte 28 between Oneonta and Milford. Meeting at our usual time, 6:30pm, we will have our meeting… paired with food. There’ll be a grill fired up for some tasty Bratwursts, but feel free to supplement with anything you’d like (e.g., a side dish, bag of chips, extra meat for the grill, etc…). For those interested in some Brats on the grill, bring a few bucks ($2-5, depending on your appetite) to supplement the cost of the Brats and Buns, and add a side if you’d like. If you have been brewing any German Beers lately now is the time to bring them out and share! During our feast, we will be having our meeting alongside. This month’s meeting, we’ll discuss: 1. The Next Big Brew Day 2. Bulk Purchase Options 3. 2013 Year-End Gatherings Whether you’re someone who hasn’t been to a meeting in a while, or someone who we just can’t seem to get rid of, please come out to Bear Pond this Friday Night for some German Brats, Great Discussions, and ridiculously local beer! Don’t Forget: 1. Favorite Glass 2. 36-ish ounces of homebrew (if you got it) 3. A jacket as we will be outside, weather permitting. 4. and as always: your snarky, insightful comments Cheers! Greetings Wort Wizards!
I hope the Fall Season has been treating you well! Personally, I’m excited to bust out some of my bigger beer recipes to complement the colder temps that are on their way! For those of you who are participating in the HOPS for Hunger Event in a few weeks, this will be our last formal Hurrah before the craziness ensues. This month’s meeting will be devoted, partially, to some last minute logistics. So if you are one of the 11 brewers, be sure to come out and make it. For all other HOPS members, we will get down to ‘business as usual’ after we finalize a few things for the event; so bring your brews and ‘buds (taste buds, that is; for your own safety, please don’t bring any Anheiser Busch products). THIS MONTH’S MEETING This months meeting will be on Friday, October 19th @ 6:30pm @ The Junkyard Bakehaus @ 6187 Route 23 Southside, Oneonta. For directions click HERE. Be sure to bring: 1. Tasting Glass 2. Homebrews to Share (32+ oz) 3. Writing Utensil HOPS for Hunger Logistics Where Can I Get Tickets? Tickets for the general public will be sold @ The Green Toad Bookstore and B Side Lounge (General Clinton Plaza). I have reserved 50 to sell to the Brew Club Members, our friends, and family. So, if you are “taking orders” from your friends, co-workers, etc… be sure to collect their money by Friday’s meeting as I will be selling tickets then. After the meeting on Friday, I will give any leftover tickets to the 2 venues who are selling to the public. I will also have the 22 complimentary tickets for the 11 beers who are entering the contest. As an FYI, we sold out last year weeks before the event with no advertising. This year, we advertised. EVENT T-SHIRTS For individuals who would like an event T-Shirt, please bring your $15 to the meeting. This will be your last chance to place your order. We will also finalize the brewers and styles of each of the beers for the contest. So, if you’ve made changes, changed brew partners, or brewed something different than what you’ve previously proposed, be sure to mention it to me at Friday’s Meeting. That’s all for now, See you all on Friday! Greetings Beer Geeks: I wanted to give everyone an official update announcement on this Fall’s Charity Tasting Contest: HOPS for Hunger.
