- May: Porter.
- June: SMASH (Single Malt And Single Hop).
- July: Kolsch.
- August: Gose.
- September:
- October: Fruit Beer
- November: Braggot.

- The HOPS for HEROES charity event was again discussed. The event will be held on May 20th at Council Rock Brewery rain or shine. There will be tent set up like we have done in the past and Brewers for the event should bring 5 gallons of beer. The style for the event is IPA (any version thereof; session, double, triple, etc.). We had a good number of Brewers sign up for the event. Please make sure if you haven’t signed up to do so soon.
- T-shirts and tickets are available online at www.hopsbrewclub.com
- Discounted tickets are available if you sign up to do the Rock to Rock race with more info available at www.clarksportscenter.com/events/2018-council-rock-council-rock-race
- The event page has been created on Facebook. Please share the event if you are able to so we can get a great turnout.
- We are in need of tables for the event. Please bring some if you can or let us know if we can borrow some.
- We discussed doing another charity event in the fall for the Lion’s Club. They have asked us if October 13th would work and the location would be up at Deer Haven Campground in the West End of Oneonta (end of Chestnut St). There were no objections noted by the members to this event. Additional information will be available once the details are ironed out.
- The Yeast Management Conference at Helderberg Brewery was discussed. May 11-12 at the Helderberg Brewery in Rensselaerville. Topics to be discussed include Yeast Viability & GMO Yeast, Sour Beer Production & Diastaticus, Lab Setup & Handling, and Yeast Management in Small Breweries. Space is limited. Registration required. Contact Rebecca at 518 797 5100 or [email protected].
- Beers (Beer of the Month: Gluten Free)
- Jeb’ Buckwheat and Sweet Potato Beer (with molasses added). The buckwheat came through on this one. Congrats on roasting your own grains as well as the sweet potatoes.
- Chris and Frank’s GF Nutshot. Brewed with toasted coconut and fermented cacao nibs. With the addition of Lactose, this finished sweet. “Would make a good snocone.”
- Chris and Frank’s West O Cider 2017. Cortland, Fuji, and Swee-Tango apples round out the batch.
- Matt’s Lager. Recreated the event winning beer without the decoction mash step.
- Jim’s Kolsch. Slightly sweet, but very easy to keep drinking these.
- Jesse’s German Lager. Coming in at a sessionable 4.4%, this all German ingredient recipe was excellent.
- Pete’s Hoppy Amber. Warrior hops with kitchen floor fermentation. Pete was thinking of changing up the hops next time.
- Chris C.’s Imperial Coffee Milk Stout. At 8.2% and 2 pounds of cold steeped coffee, this beverage will keep you going…and going…and going back for more. Served from a new 1 gallon keg, you never have to leave home without it.
- Matt’s Russian Imperial Stout. The Social Experiment is ongoing. Keep’em coming, Matt!
- Chris and Frank’s Cherry Pom 2017 Cider. Made with Cherry and Pomegranate juice.
- Wes’ W&W Ginger Splash Beer. A superb palate cleanser in a ginger packed glass.
- Wes’ Insane Lemon-aid. Very tasty at 8.8%. A hot sunny day has got another thing coming if it thinks it can compete with this. This recipe might get stolen this summer…
- Next month’s meeting will be held at the 8th Note at 10 South Main street in Oneonta on Friday 5/18/18 at 6:30pm.
