It’s meetin’ time! This month’s meeting will be at MFP on Rte 7, this Friday (21st) at 6:30pm. We realize that summer is often a busy time for many people to make the monthly meetings. In order to address this issue, one suggestion might be for club members to host smaller get-togethers and tastings at our respective houses during the summer. This way we can bring families, throw large pieces of protein on a flaming grate, and/or have deeper discussions on many different aspects of brewing. If anyone is interested in throwing an invite out there, just let me know. I can post it on our site and request that RSVPs be given.
HOPS for Hounds Charity Tasting Event
The fall charity tasting, HOPS for Hounds, will partner with the Otsego County SPCA. Details for this event are underway. Currently, our tentative date for the event is Saturday, September 7th from 1-3pm. This is not etched in stone, but I wanted to send you an update on where we are at in the process. There will be a style description, sign up sheet, and more information about the event posted on the site soon.
Big Hop and Yeast Order
Fellow member, Chris Cleveland has set up a google.doc for those interested in purchasing bulk orders of hops and/or yeast vials. We have requested a bid from Mark and Bear Pond Winery. The price of hops and yeast will depend on the amount of items ordered. After we fill out our collective order, we will submit our order to Mark who will determine the price (cost of items are dependent upon the amount ordered). If you would like to order hops and/or yeast, be sure to do the following:
1. Check out the website catalog for the hop/varieties you want (note: hops are in 1lb bags) Website Catalog for HOPS and YEAST
2. Click on the link to the Google.doc order form to fill in your name and which varieties of hops/yeast you want to purchase using the item# listed on the website.
Google Doc Order Form
3. After one week, Chris Cleveland will submit this order form to Mark to determine availability and price. We will then confirm the amount of items purchased and decide on a location to meet Chris to give him our respective cash.
4. Arrive at Bear Pond Winery to receive our goods!
I will, sadly, be absent for this month’s meeting, but for all those attending, be sure to bring:
1. Some brewed up goodness.
2. Favorite tasting glass
3. Note-taking materials.
Until we drink again, Cheers!
