First off… A HUGE thanks and accolades to all of those who brewed, participated, volunteered, and were a part of HOPS for Hunger this past Saturday! Some amazing beers (which no longer surprises me) and just an all-around blast! I’m still waiting to hear back from Saturday’s Bread regarding the total dollar amount raised for them, but they assured me that it was well over $2,000, with over 160 people from the community coming out to participate! Woohoo!! In all, this was one of the most difficult tastings to judge; so many quality beers, and so difficult to rank them! Anyone who participated, I’m sure, would agree!
Well, as if we haven’t spent enough time with each other lately, we will be having our monthly BrewClub Meeting at My Father’s Place (MFP) THIS Friday, November 16th @ 6:30pm. If you have any leftover beer from the event, I’m certain you have a place to “clean out those kegs” during the meeting. ha!
This month, we don’t have any pressing issues, contests, events, or approaching Big Brew Days, so we can spend the majority of the time catching up, enjoying some nice malt-forward fall beers, and discussing/evaluating. That said, on the near horizon we have the following items:
1. Annual Club-Wide Member Pint Glass to be ordered (from dues).
2. Big Brew Day 5.0? Speculation/Discussion
3. BJCP Training options
For those of you new to the club/considering joining. We bring the following items to each meeting:
1. Your favorite tasting glass
2. 32+ oz. of homebrew to share (if you have any)
3. Writing Utensil and Paper/Beer Journal for note-taking purposes.
Hope to see you all there on Friday!
Cheers,
—josh
