Many orders of business were discussed including:
The HOPS for Heroes on May 22 was a success with over $1500 made for the Amputee Softball Team.
A second Hops for Heroes, on a smaller scale and as part of the VFW fund raiser, is to take place on Friday, July 15 with brewers to arrive by about 4:00 as the event is to start at 5:00. The VFW will provide tables and ice, and is handle the ticketing, etc. There is no voting or style requirements, just any beer that one would like to serve. This is also an opportunity to sell the balance of the HFH T-shirts and glasses as well as other HOPS merchandise.
Jim made a beautiful professional looking voting box to be used for future HOPS competition fundraisers.
A future trip to the local meaderies, Green Wolf brewing, and the Schoharie Potato Vodka distillery sometime over the summer. Will discuss further at the next meeting.
It was also suggested that a HOPS flyer with monthly meeting dates/locations and a link to the website be posted at Sweet Meadows as this may increase the attendance and members as well as repeat customers for beer supplies.
There were many interesting beers sampled this meeting including:
Chris and Frank’s Lime Gose made with Pink Himalayan salt was best in class and went great with clams (as well as any summertime activity)
Jim brought a tasty Field of Vision Honey Wheat as well as his Three Blind Mice dark amber
Matt’s return of the Big Brew Day Brown was better than ever as the coffee and chocolate flavors continue to mellow.
Brian bought a six pack of 8 Ball Stout by Lost Cost that was quite good
The next meeting is scheduled for a pot luck BBQ, with the HOPS club providing burgers, brauts, and buns, on Sunday, July 17, starting about 4:00 at 3-Mile Point Park at 6266 Route 80 in Cooperstown.
