Many orders of business were discussed including:
- The second Hops for Heroes, on a smaller scale and as part of the VFW fund raiser on July 15 was a success with eight people serving various styles of appreciated homebrew.
- Some suggestions for future fundraisers to be considered for vote at a later date include Relay for Life (Cancer) and the Sixth Ward Athletic Club. If people have other suggestions, please bring them up for discussion.
- Will look into future trips to the local meaderies, Green Wolf brewing, and the Schoharie Potato Vodka distillery sometime in the near future
- It was suggested that a HOPS flyer with monthly meeting dates/locations and a link to the website be posted at Sweet Meadows, as this may increase the attendance and members as well as repeat customers for beer supplies.
- There were many interesting beers sampled at this meeting including:
- Chris and Frank’s Lime Gose and a top of the line Hazelnut Brown.
- Todd and Susan had a nice dark amber Dortmunder
- Wes had a sweet Wild flower mead as well as the strong yet sweet Tupolo Honey Mead made from the best honey on earth.
- Jim had a fine English brown
- Barb brought the Willow Creek stout
- Brian had some of the aged Russian Imperial Stout that was tasted at earlier meeting, but given more time to mellow
- There was also charcoal grilled hamburgers and brauts to go along with some delicious pot luck items including artisan cheese, seven layer dip, and homemade Boston Crème cupcakes.
- The next meeting is scheduled for Friday August 19 at 6:30 at a location to be confirmed.
